SK ID Solutions and 10 other companies joined the Green Tiger Academy course. Completing the course, which was developed in cooperation between four universities, will teach participants to evaluate their companies’ impact on the environment and how to decrease that impact smartly.

The course, which was developed by TalTech, Tallinn University, the Estonian Academy of Arts, and Estonian Business School, is comprised of theoretical lectures and practical tasks which sees participants solving specific tasks within their companies.

“It is very important to SK to not burden the environment any more than is necessary. We wish to offer our clients services that help them to boost their business while also being useful to them in terms of the ecological footprint of their business. At first glance, it may seem as if digital services like the ones that SK offers do not have a very significant impact on the environment, but that is not always true. I believe that the Green Tiger Academy will help us to better understand the broader impact of SK’s services and what we can do to improve things,” said Kalev Pihl, the CEO of SK ID Solutions.

In the first lecture of the Academy, TalTech’s Vice-Rector for Green Transition Helen Sooväli-Sepping and Nurkse Department’s professor Erkki Karo talked about global trends and indeterminacy in the context of the green transition. Among other things, they talked about how we can achieve a more sustainable lifestyle by implementing new technologies responsibly and altering our behaviour and consumption patterns.

The Green Tiger programme will provide students with general knowledge of the current environmental situation around the world and in Estonia as well as with the knowledge and tools to define their ambitions for their green transition and manage their environmental impact. By the end of the Academy’s course, participants will know how to evaluate their companies’ impact on the environment and how to decrease it.
