From August 12, all new Mobile-ID accounts will be issued using the “SK ID Solutions EID-Q 2021E” certificate chain. Not updating the intermediate certificate configuration will result in new Mobile-ID users being unable to access your e-service or provide digital signatures.

To ensure that e-services can continue leveraging new Mobile-ID certificates, e-service providers must add the new “SK ID Solutions EID-Q 2021E” intermediate certificate, in addition to the already existing “ESTEID-SK 2015” and “EID-SK 2016” intermediate certificates, to their MID-REST client’s Trust Store configuration. Please note, no certificate profile changes compared to “EID-SK 2016” are planned.

This change, scheduled for August 12, 2024, affects all information systems and applications that provide digital authentication or signatures using the Mobile-ID service.

Initially, we will implement the change for Estonian Mobile-ID accounts, followed by Lithuanian Mobile-ID in the second part of Q3 2024. At the same time, continued support for both “ESTEID-SK 2015” and “EID-SK 2016” intermediate certificates is necessary for existing Mobile-ID accounts.

Please ensure that you have updated the certificates in your systems before August 12, 2024, or have confirmed that the Trusted Service List has been updated with the latest version. Failure to add the new intermediate certificate configuration will result in new Mobile-ID users being unable to access your e-service or provide digital signatures.

Please check in our DEMO environment that your system is compatible with the changes that will take effect on 12.08.2024. You can use a Mobile-ID test number with a new certificate chain to test.​
