Changes in SK Timestamping Service
On March 26, 2025, the SK Timestamping Service certificate will be updated, affecting all users of the service. At 14:00 EET on March 26, 2025, new Time-Stamping Unit (TSU) certificates -“SK TIMESTAMPING UNIT 2025E” and “SK TIMESTAMPING UNIT 2025R” will be taken into use.
New Time-Stamping Unit Certificates
The new TSU certificates can be downloaded from the SK repository:
The new certificates will be added to the Estonian Trusted List (TL) in version 67, which will be published by the end of February 2025 at the latest.
Changes to the Signing Algorithm
In addition to the certificate update, a new signing algorithm will be introduced for ECC endpoints. These endpoints will start using the SHA512withECDSA hash function for signatures.
No Changes to Service Architecture
The overall architecture of the SK Timestamping Service will remain unchanged, as described in the following Github link.
Actions Required for Information Systems
Information systems performing signing and signature validation must be configured to trust the new Timestamping Service certificate directly or ensure that the Trusted List (TL) is updated.
We strongly recommend making the necessary changes in your information systems before March 26, 2025. Failure to implement these updates in time may lead to interruptions in Timestamping Service usage, including:
- Signing documents
- Validating signatures
- X-Road data exchange
