Cyber Security Initiative Earns Collaboration of the Year Award
ITL awarded SK ID Solutions together with partners for the initiative aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity of small and medium-sized Estonian businesses as the technology sector’s Collaboration of the Year 2023.
For over a quarter-century, the Estonian Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications (ITL) has been recognising people, ideas, initiatives, and activities that significantly influence the ICT sector in Estonia and life in the country at large. One such highlighted initiative of last year was the joint effort in strengthening cybersecurity of Estonian small and medium-sized businesses.
The 3-month project discovered weaknesses in the cyber defences of participating businesses, emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures, and practices. Moreover, the project reinforced the indispensable requirement for IT companies to offer secure services to all their clients.
Driven by a collaboration between SK ID Solutions and fellow ITL members, the project also emphasised the importance of responsibility of ITL members who are expected to offer services that inherently adhere to robust security standards, thereby demonstrating their central and leading role in shaping a secure cybersecurity landscape.
“The companies that participated in the campaign highlighted the importance of our mission and contributed to building a long-term programme of good practice. This programme will focus on fostering cooperation in the ICT sector, harmonising the security of services, and simplifying services for customers. The whole campaign received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants. We can raise the level of cybersecurity by addressing risks in a practical and simple way, which allows the importance of the issue to be widely shared with different organisations. Many thanks to everyone who supported us,” said Kalev Pihl, CEO of SK ID Solutions, and the head of the information security working group of the ITL.
More information about the project, professional advice, and a list of IT companies adhering to good practices can be found on the ITL website, under the cyber-support section.
