SK ID Solutions Dominates Lithuania’s E-identity Market with 94.8% Share

25.04.2025
94.8% of all qualified e-signature certificates issued to Lithuanian residents in 2024 were provided by SK ID Solutions, the latest data by the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) shows. This marks a significant increase compared to 88% in 2023 and further solidifies the company’s leadership in the market. In terms of usage, 70% of Lithuanians opted for Smart-ID when signing electronically last year, while 25% preferred Mobile-ID, reflecting public confidence in our tools.

According to the annual report on Trust Services in Lithuania published by RRT, the number of certificates issued via SK ID Solutions services in 2024 increased from 2,66 million to almost 2,87 million. Those issued with Smart-ID grew by 10,2%, reaching 2,411,891 (compared to 2,189,321 in 2023).

In addition to the report, RRT has commissioned an annual survey which revealed that every second Lithuanian resident (55%) uses Smart-ID as their means of electronic identification.

This not only highlights the widespread use of the service but also demonstrates the strong trust Lithuanians place in our secure solutions, which, last year, was evaluated by RRT in accordance with the newly adopted national law based on the EU’s eIDAS Regulation. As a result, Smart-ID and Mobile-ID were the first digital identity tools in Lithuania to be recognized by the state as meeting the highest level of assurance.

SK ID Solutions is honoured to be the first e-identity solutions provider in Lithuania to receive the highest level of assurance for its tools. This state-level recognition validates both the maturity and trustworthiness of Smart-ID and Mobile-ID and further strengthens the argument for their wider adoption in public services, particularly as this aligns with a growing demand from the population. Additional findings from RRT’s annual survey reveal that 49% of those already using qualified electronic signatures would like to see more public services available electronically. These insights serve as the urgent need for the public sector to replace outdated systems with secure, modern solutions that ensure safe and seamless digital experiences for all.
