SK published proposals for amendment of Organisation Certificate documents

08.04.2016

On 1 April 2016, SK published proposals for amendment of Organisation Certificate documents. The proposals for amendment have been published for comments by 30 April 2016.

After the electronic publication of the proposals for amendment, subscribers have an opportunity to submit substantiated comments on the amendment proposals, which is followed by an analysis of submitted comments lasting for up to 30 days. New versions of the documents will be published after 60 days from the electronic publication of the amendment proposals on SK’s website or alternatively the proposals will be withdrawn.

All the documents concerning issuance and management of Organisation Certificates have been rewritten and also partially restructured due to the eIDAS Regulation that becomes effective on 1 July 2016. eIDAS is a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market, which also regulates e-Seals.
SK intends to provide qualified trust services related to e-Seals from the date eIDAS becomes effective, as a result of which certain changes have occurred in the issuance and management process of e-Seals.
The primary change concerning the owners of e-Seals in the future is more rigorous controls over the device carrying the key of the e-seal and creating new obligations both for owners of e-Seals and SK.

The entire documentation on issuance and management of Organisation Certificates has been amended.
The Certificate Policy for Organisation Certificates contains requirements for the issuance and servicing of e-Seals, Certificates for Encryption and Certificates for Authentication. Requirements for TLS Server Certificates have been transferred into a separate document titled Certificate Policy for TLS Server Certificates.
The Certification Practice Statement for Organisation Certificates describes the activities of SK related to the issuance and servicing of e-Seals, Certificates for Encryption, Certificates for Authentication and TLS Server Certificates. The Terms and Conditions and Certificate Profile of certificates issued by KLASS3-SK 2010 have also been updated.

The draft of version 6.0 of the Certificate Policy for Organisation Certificates is available here.

The draft of version 4.0 of the Certificate Profile for KLASS3-SK Certificates is available here.

All documents become effective on 1 July 2016, unless due to comments the amendment proposals are withdrawn.
