The Smart-ID app was awarded the silver medal at the Estonian Design Awards competition
Smart-ID, the personal identification solution created by SK ID Solutions and designed by Stagnation Lab was awarded the second place at the Estonian Design Awards competition.
The Stagnation Lab team who designed the Smart-ID app participated in the user experience category at the competition, where the jury judged the competing works based on the user experience when going through the process or consuming information, how seamlessly the app works and how inventive it is. The competition included digital solutions where the main emphasis is on user experience development and innovativeness.
The Smart-ID app’s user experience team worked closely with SK ID Solutions’ product managers Urmo Keskel and Jaan Murumets. The goal was to create a reliable app that would be convenient and logical for everyone to use no matter what their native language and age are. Stagnation Lab designed four user flows: account creation in the app, in bank branches and with an ID-card, and authentication and transaction signing. Smart-ID’s branding and the app’s visual identity were designed by the creative agency TANK.
Over the course of a thorough development process, the app’s creators tested regular users from different backgrounds. They ran user tests in five languages (Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and English) in the three Baltic countries. Representatives of different age groups and nationalities participated in the tests.
The innovative and convenient Smart-ID works on a simple principle: the user downloads the Smart-ID app from Google Play or App Store to his smart device and identifies himself electronically by using his Mobile-ID or ID-card or by visiting his local bank branch. As with the ID-card and the Mobile-ID, Smart-ID also requires the use of PIN1 and PIN2 codes which the user will create within the same app.
Smart-ID, which is popular in the Baltics, was first launched in the beginning of 2017 and it enables the use of various finance, education, telecommunications, energy and retail sector e-services. Using Smart-ID is free of charge. More information can be found at: smart-id.com
